THE PRODUCTS

Founded by the inspiration that fishing with a hand crafted split bamboo fly rod gives. "Fishing" can be far more than catching fish if we let it. There is no greater feeling than catching native wild fish in a backcountry setting with equipment that has soul.

Split Bamboo Fly Rods

TWO PIECE/SINGLE TIP $750

The rods Vandalia Rodworks was founded on. These are 100% handcrafted. Raw Pseudosasa amabylis bamboo from China is flamed, split, and planed to perfect accuracy for a taper to meet your needs. Six strips glued together for hexagonal blanks then outfitted with high end components: agate stripping guide, nickel silver ferrules, snake guides, top grade cork grip, sterling silver hook keeper ring, silk wrappings, and hand crafted cap & ring reelseat from your choice of wood. These take months from start to finish and waiting times vary depending on demand.

VRW Tee

I agonized between several models of t-shirts before settling on this one. The value you get with this shirt is unsurpassed and the best part is that they are printed right here in West Virginia by PDQ Printing (Ravenswood). The stylish logo instantly tells everyone around you that you are an esteemed and expert fly fisherman. Everyone, and I mean everyone, watched A River Runs Through It and said "I wanna learn how to do that fly pole thingy" and then they see you wearing this shirt and they'll say "THAT guy (or girl) has got it together!"

Available in GREEN, TAN, and BROWN. Sizes S through XL only.

Custom Graphite Fishing Rods

PRICED PER ORDER

I have custom built MANY fly rods, spinning rods, and casting rods over the past decade for myself, friends, and customers. Since the preferences are so wildly varied, contact me for more information. Typically, my cost of labor for standard rods is $100 over the cost of materials. This may be more depending on complexity of the order. I do NOT do intricate inlays, complex colored cork/composite grips, etc. If I think the concept is gaudy, I won't put my name to it. I appreciate that others have different tastes and not trying to be offensive.
